Teaching Children About the Reformed Confessions

Over on the Christ Reformed Church webpage, I just featured William Boekestein’s wonderful trilogy of children’s books that tell the story of the Three Forms of Unity:

The Quest for Comfort: The Story of the Heidelberg Catechism

Faithfulness Under Fire: The Story of Guido de Bres

The Glory of Grace: The Story of the Canons of Dort

I have found these to be wonderfully written and vividly illustrated.  They make a great addition to regular Bible reading and catechism memory with children!

  1. A wonderful trilogy indeed! Here in West Sayville for the past three years we’ve held a special family Sunday School class on Reformation Day, in which we go through one of these books together. Each family then gets a copy to take home. Honestly, they are so simple and clear that I even refer to them now and again for bits of history about the Three Forms of Unity. I can’t wait to see what Rev. Boekestein’s next title will be!
