Notable Online Jewish Commentary

Read this book While studying and preaching through Exodus (Shemot), I have been enjoying a broad range of commentaries.  Besides the ones I’ve mentioned here before, I also would like to point out one of the most important Jewish commentaries: Rashi.  Rashi (d. 1105) was a very influential medieval Jewish scholar/commentator, whose comments were written by his students.  Those marginal comments now make up a sort of Jewish commentary on the Torah, Nevi’im, and K’tuvim (the OT), and are still considered essential for Jewish OT studies.

To use his online commentary, go here.

To use The Gutnick Edition of the Chumash: Book of Exodus, compiled by Chaim Miller, go here.

Of course these need to be read with Christian/NT spectacles, and sorting through the conjectural midrash can be quite the chore, yet they are helpful in certain areas.  One added benefit is that they keep you in your Hebrew!  Hitpa’er!
